  1. Tribute to Caesar Luke 20:19-26 October 9, 2011 Pastor Mitch Dietz

  2. Instruction on walking in obedience to __________ ________. government authority

  3. Romans 13:1-2 (NLT) Everyone must submit to governing authorities. For all authority comes from God, and those in positions of authority have been placed there by God. So anyone who rebels against authority is rebelling against what God has instituted, and they will be punished.

  4. Romans 13:6-7 (NLT) Pay your taxes, too, for these same reasons. For government workers need to be paid. They are serving God in what they do. Give to everyone what you owe them: Pay your taxes and government fees to those who collect them, and give respect and honor to those who are in authority.

  5. Instruction on walking in obedience as ________ ________________ _____________. stewards of God’s resources entrusted to us

  6. Why did God say give to God what belongs to God when ________________ ______? everything belongs to Him

  7. Because God has given _________________ regarding ___________. specific instructions stewardship

  8. His audience would have been meticulously trained in ______ and _________________. tithing money stewardship

  9. Proverbs 3:9 Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops;

  10. Deuteronomy 14:22-23 (NLT) “You must set aside a tithe of your crops—one-tenth of all the crops you harvest each year. Bring this tithe to the designated place of worship—the place the LORD your God chooses for his name to be honored—and eat it there in his presence. This applies to your tithes of grain, new wine, olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds. Doing this will teach you always to fear the LORD your God.

  11. 1 Corinthians 16:1-2 (NIV84) Now about the collection for God’s people: Do what I told the Galatian churches to do. On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made.

  12. 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (NLT) Remember this-a farmer who plants only a few seeds will get a small crop. But the one who plants generously will get a generous crop. You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.” And God will generously provide all you need. Then you will always have everything you need and plenty left over to share with others.

  13. If you are ______ to give at least a tithe of your resources back to the Lord I urge you to seriously consider your ___________ of the resources entrusted to you by God. unable stewardship

  14. If you are _________ to give at least a tithe of your resources back to the Lord I urge you to seriously consider your _________ in handling the resources entrusted to you by God. unwilling obedience

  15. Exodus 16:6-8 (NLT) So Moses and Aaron said to all the people of Israel, “By evening you will realize it was the LORD who brought you out of the land of Egypt. In the morning you will see the glory of the LORD, because he has heard your complaints, which are against him, not against us… Yes, your complaints are against the LORD, not against us.”

  16. Exodus 16:11-12 (NLT) Then the LORD said to Moses, “I have heard the Israelites’ complaints. Now tell them, ‘In the evening you will have meat to eat, and in the morning you will have all the bread you want. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God.’

  17. Exodus 16:17-18 (NLT) So the people of Israel did as they were told. Some gathered a lot, some only a little. But when they measured it out, everyone had just enough. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it needed.

  18. Exodus 16:19-20 (NLT) Then Moses told them, “Do not keep any of it until morning.” But some of them didn’t listen and kept some of it until morning. But by then it was full of maggots and had a terrible smell. Moses was very angry with them.
