  11. Raymond’s Run • An allusion is a reference in a literary work to a person, place, or thing in history or another work of literature. Squeaky uses several allusions during the course of the story. Provide two examples of allusions from the story. • Create a plot diagram for the story (include the exposition, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution). • Describe the setting and conflict in the story. • What support can you find in the story for a prediction that Gretchen will win the race? Why would the author include details that support predictions of different outcomes? • Describe the mood of the story and point of view of the story. • What is the purpose of this story (to entertain, to persuade, or to inform)? • Analyze Squeaky and determine how she changes over the course of the story. • Use details from the story to explain why the character does not like Cynthia Proctor. • Provide one inference that can be made from this story. • Formulate a possible theme from the story. • Provide one example of irony from the story and explain how it is an example of irony.
