  7. Model Evaluate your oral hygiene. OBSERVINGMy mouth feels fresh, not sticky or bitter. My teeth feel smooth, no rough patches or plaque. I can feel the space between my bottom teeth—no debris there. INQUIRINGWhat is “hygiene”???! Who cares? When did I last brush? Floss? Mouthwash? What did the dentist say? Do I have GINGIVITIS????!! Gingival hyperplasia?? Gingivostomatitis? SEARCHINGI ran my tongue around my teeth. I breathed into my hand. I looked in the mirror. I recalled flossing, brushing, mouth-washing twice a day. I called my dentist. I looked at my dental x-rays and dental records. I asked my shoulder partner for her opinion. CONCLUDINGBased on my inquiry and research, I have concluded that my oral hygiene is excellent--my teeth and gums are so clean you could eat off of them.
