Contoh: Teori keperluan (maslow) Teori pendorong & kesihatan (herzberg) Teori * ERG(alderfer) E = existence R = relatedness G = growth

  2. Teori proses • Memberi fokus kepada proses di mana faktor - faktor motivasi berinteraksi untuk menghasilkan motivasi • Contoh: Teori jangkaa Teori persamaan Teori arah matlamat (MBO) Untuk jelaskan persepsi seseorang berkaitan kerja, prestasi dan ganjaran

  3. Teori keperluan Maslow • Keagungan diri • Kerja kreatif & mencabar • Penglibatan dalam membuat keputusan • Keanjalan / otonomi • Kebanggaan diri • Naik pangkat • Pujian / pengiktirafan • Penilaian di peringkat tinggi A. Keperluan peringkat tinggi

  4. B. Keperluan peringkat rendah • Sosial • - Rakan sejawat yang mesra • - Aktiviti sosial yang dibiaya • - Penyelia yang setara • Keselamatan • - Tempat kerja yang selamat • - Jaminan kerja • - Gaji asas yang menarik • Fisiologi • - Tempat tinggal • - Makanan • - Gaji, dll

  5. Contoh amcontoh dalam organisasi Penyempurnaan Kerja mencabar kendiri Status Pangkat Kawan Kawan sekerja Stabil pencen Tempat Gaji tinggal

  6. Teori keperluan maslow • Keperluan fisiologi • Keperluan keselamatan • Keperluan sosial • Keperluan kebanggaan diri • Keperluan keangungan diri Teori pendorong – kesihatan (herzberg) • Pandangan traditional Rasa puas Tak puas

  7. Pandangan Herzberg Ada puas Pendorong Tiada rasa puas Tak puas Kesihatan Tiada rasa tak puas (jika tiada (jika ada faktor kesihatan) faktor kesihatan)

  8. Puas Tiada puas • Faktor pendorong • Kejayaan • Pengiktirafan • Kerja itu sendiri • Tanggungjawab • Perkembangan kerjaya

  9. Rasa Tiada rasa Tak puas Tak puas • Faktor kesihatan • Penyelia (ketua panitia, hem dll) • Tempat kerja • Hubungan interpresonal • Gaji dan keselamatan • Polisi dan pentadbiran syarikat

  10. Teori motivasi ERG Alderfer Maslow • Keperluan = keselamatan ‘existence’ • Keperluan = Hubungan dengan ‘relatedness’ orang lain (sosial) • Keperluan Growth = kebanggaan & keangungan diri

• Contohnya:

  13. Teori ERG 6 5 Kepuasaan dengan Keperluan “growth” Kepentingan keperluan “growth” Kecewa dengan keperluan “growth” 4 Kepuasaan dengan keperluan “relatedness” 3 Kepentingan keperluan “relatedness” Kecewa dengan kepuasaan relatedness” 2 Kepuasan keperluan existence 1 Regress Progress Kepentingan keperluan existence Kecewa dengan Keperluan existence

  15. kep. motivasi peringkat intrinsik tinggi kep. peringkat motivasi rendah ekstrinsik Perbandingan teori Maslow, Herzberg, ERG

  16. Persoalan Sejauh mana teori Maslow ok? Di US dan Europe pekerjanyaRegressing back to existence needs Kenapa? Syarikat membuang pekerja Potong gaji “tiada benefits” Jadi pekerja bimbang Berkaitan gaji Jaminan kerja

  17. Di jepun dulu • Dedicated workers • Full time staff • Tetapi kenapa sekarang pekerja • Korbankan bonus? • Cuti dibiayai? • Keselamatan kerja? • Ramai bertukar ke part time job?

  20. Teori persamaan adams Pekerja digerakkan untuk mencapai keseimbangan “input” dengan output input • Idea output • Usaha Ganjaran • Kesetiaan Gaji • Keikhlasan Sokongan Pengiktirafan Kepujian Peneguhan

  21. Teori pengukuhan (B.F. Skinner) Prestasi boleh meningkat apabila • Pekerja mendapat maklumbalas positif • Pekerja menerima pujian atau pengukuhan positif bila berjaya • Pengukuhan hendaklah diberi selepas beberapa penghasilan kerja yang memuaskan.

  22. Goal setting theory Function of 4 goal attributes: • Goal difficulty: the extent to which a goal is challenging & requires effort • Work harder to achieve difficult goals but • Not too difficult • Unattainable • Eg: production 300%

  23. Goal specificity: refers to the clarity & precision of the goal • Inc. Productivity (not to specific) • inc. By 10% in 6 months (quite specific) • inc Job satisfaction – how specific? • Locke & Gary Latham • Proposed the expanded model

  24. Goal acceptance: the extent to which a person adopts a goal as his or her own • Goal commitment: extent of personally interested to achieve the goal So performance is determined by the interaction of: • Goal directed effort • Organizational support • Ind. Abilities / traits Eg of organizational support • Adequate personal • Enough raw. materials • Improve facilities(Perbaiki kelengkapan.)

  25. Expectancy Theory • Expectancy: The person’s belief that working hard will enable various levels of task performance to be achieved. • Instrumentality: The person’s belief that various work related outcomes will occur as a result of task performance • Valence: The value the individual assigns to these work related out come • Eg: A manager is wondering if “Promotion” is a form of motivation to his subordinate

  26. Expectancy is low : if a person feels she can’t achieve - necessary performance level. • Instrumentality is low : if a person is not confident that a high level of task performance will result in promotion. • Valence is low: the person places little value on receiving a promotion; the promotion is not perceived as a valued reward.

  27. Expectancy termind. questions • Expectancy Can I Achieved The desired Level of task Performance Managerial implications • Select workers with ability • Train workers to use ability • Support ability with resources • Clarify performance goals.

  28. ind. questions • Instrumentality What Work Outcomes Will be Received As a Result Or the Performance Managerial implications • Clarify psychological contracts • Communicate performance outcomes possibilities • Confirm performance making rewards contingent on performance

  29. ind. questions • Valence how much do I value the work outcomes Managerial implications • Identify ind. needs • Adjust rewards to match these need Inequity Frust Anger Try to recall one incident of inequity you feel. List down your input & outcome (compare to other): write the case: tukar dengan kawan, bincang;

  30. Equity theory • Focus equity • Avoid inequity • Equity is the believe that we are being treated fairly in relation to comparison others • and inequity is the belief that we are being treated unfairly in relation to others. • Kaitkan ssb, ssm

  31. People form perception of equity by comparing what they give to the ORG (inputs) relative to what they get back (outcomes) and how this ratio compares with those of others. InputOutcomes Sumbangan Gaji Pendidikan Pengiktirafan Pengalaman Sosial relationship Usaha Ganjaran Loyalty Dll

  32. Self Others Outcome compare Outcome Input Input Kalau ‘balance’ = feel ada equity Not balance = feel inequity In equity – people choose A variety of responses in an effort to maintain equity or reduce perceived inequity

  33. Bandingan dibuat (comparison other) Inequity Equity Motivation to Motivation to reduce inequity maintain current • Change inputs situation • Change outcomes • Alter perception of self Provide some input • Alter perception of others • Change comparisons • Leave situation

  34. What did you do? • What should be done? • List the effective ways you could reduce inequity • Change input • Effort if under rewarded • Receive • Change outcome • Ask for pay raise • Promotion • Big room + air con • Nilai outcome • Relationship positive

  35. Change perception of self. • Maybe we contribute less than comparison others • Enough reward already • Alter perception of others • Maybe he is better than me • Change comparison • He may be “anak emas” bos so choose orang lain. • Leave • Optional / pindah

  36. An integrated view of the basic processes embedded in the equity, expectancy & goal setting theory it suggest: • Goal difficulty, specificity, acceptance, & commitment all lead to goal directed effort. • After he experience int or extrinsic reward – assessment of equity occur (equity = satisfied) if not dissatisfaction

Why? SWOT Analysis • A pernah ikuti training as principal • Berpengalaman • Kenaikan pangkat based on SSB?
