  2. Introduction • Chinese New Year (Jan 1st, Lunar Calendar) • Lantern Festival (Jan 15th, Lunar Calendar) • Dragon Boat Festival(May 5th, Lunar Calendar) • Chinese Valentine’s Day(July 7th, Lunar Calendar) • Mid-Autumn Festival(August 15th, Lunar Calendar)

  3. Audience: • Persons who use Chinese as a second language and know basic phonetic transcription of Mandarin, • American born Chinese want to know more about Chinese culture, • Persons who are amateurs of Chinese language and Chinese culture.

  4. Goals: • Understand 5important festivals of Chinese culture. • Use at least 50 terms related to those special occasions. • Learn the basic social conversation and precise pronunciation, intonation

  5. Learning Activities: • Readthe brief history, origin and customs • Watchon-line movies • Learnthe vocabularies and terms • Practice short sentences and dialogs • Do various exercises and quizzes
