Face to Face

Framvegis, founded in 2001, is a private educational company in Iceland that specializes in vocational education and training for adult learners. Collaborating with comprehensive schools and educational authorities, we provide both short- and long-term courses focused on health and social care. Our team of three employees and 90 contract instructors deliver courses in partnership with the Directorate of Labour, catering to the unemployed and enhancing workplace skills. This meeting will explore our interests in enhancing work placements and quality in vocational education.

  2. Who we are Framvegis was founded in 2001 Until 2006 a part of FÁ College (health faculty) Since then Framvegis is a private educational company

  3. Ownership: • BSRB, Federation of State and Municipal Employees (51%) • Isoft – ÞekkingIT / Computer school specialized in Microsoft programs and degrees (49%)

  4. Who are we 3 employees who organize and run the center. 90 contract instructors: nurses, physical therapists, psychologists, doctors, teachers, councilors etc.

  5. Collaborating institutions Comprehensive schools, educational authorities, the Director of Labour, other Life Long Learning centers, employers (companies /institutions)

  6. Funding Government: Ministry of Education Trade unions fund courses for their members.

  7. What do we do? Provide Vocational Education and Trainig for adult learners Short and long term courses, shortest 6 hours and longest 160 hours Education outside the formal schoolsystem

  9. Unemployed : • in collaboration with Directorate of Labour • Courses working including working on self esteem, physical strenght and computer skills • Health and social care, want to add work placement

  10. European projects • Providence: Providing Competence to Workforce 2008-2010 • Spain, UK, Romania, Poland, Sweden and Iceland
