  3. Mitosis Mitosis is the division of the cell nucleus and its contents. This results in 2 identical daughter cells. What is Mitosis?

  4. The Process of Mitosis

  5. KEYPOINTS MYC codes for transcription factor Transcription factor is protein responsible for controlling flow of DNA to RNA MYC is a group of vertebrate oncogenes thought to promote the growth of tumor cells Oncogene has the ability to transform a cell into a tumor cell MYC is found to be able to stimulate apoptosis (programmed cell death) Though responsible for development of tumors, it can promote induce apoptosis when it has a low chance of survival

  6. Personal Thoughts I learned a lot from what I read. The article taught me how truly magnificent our skin is. The dermis's mechanisms are so focused on maintaining balance in our body that it even programs itself to kill cells that have been damaged by long-term exposure to the sun. It reminds me of the negative feedback loops. Negative feedback counteracts any changes that are above or below the narrow range of conditions in which our body can function in. Similar to that, MYC can induce apoptosis "under growth-restrictive conditions" (Cell Cycle, 2013).
