  2. Background like Mine • Grew up in Rochester, New York. • Father coached at same University as my grandfather. • Replaced my father with his first coaching job at McQuaid High School. • Basketball is in his genes as his brother Stan was also a head coach in the NBA.

  3. Coaching Career • Started at High School level at McQuaid High School. (1985-1986) • Took a Graduate assistant job for Rick Pitino at Providence University. Was promoted to assistant coach the second year at Providence.(1986-1988) • Became an assistant coach at Rutgers 1989. • Assistant Coach for the New York Knicks (1990-1996) • Head Coach of the New York Knicks (1997-2001) Led 1999 team to the NBA Finals • Head coach of the Houston Rockets from (2003-2007) went to the playoffs three out of the four seasons. • http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uoTTCeLhLDA

  4. Broadcasting Career • Became an ESPN color commentator for NBA games in 2008. • Ever since joining ESPN has been calling the NBA Finals. • One of the best commentators in business. Salary for Analysts • In 2010 the average salary for a non-playing analysts averages around $79,000 a year. • Former players who join this profession after their playing days are over make around $750,000. • Jeff Van Gundy is the best former player/coach that calls games for ESPN paying him over six figures a year.

  6.
