  9. Clean water act - 1972 Agreement between Canada and the United States to reduce the amount of pollution going into the Great Lakes. One of the first attempts to clean up the terrible conditions of the Great Lakes.

  10. Continuing research Ships like the “Lake Guardian” are research vessels that are designed to monitor pollution in the great lakes.

  11. Even Dr.Seuss talked about the conditions of the great lakes • You’re glumping the pond where the humming-fish hummed! No more can they hum for their gills are all gummed. So I’m sending them off. Oh, their future is dreary. They’ll walk on their fins and get woefully weary in search of water that isn’t so smeary. I hear things are just as bad up in Lake Erie
