  6. Pay • 9 pay bands • Pay points within bands • Progression through bands normal but not automatic • ‘Gateways’ within bands linked to KSF • Protection for anyone who loses overall

  7. Terms and Conditions • Replaces Whitley Councils • Harmonised terms and conditions • Standard Working Week of 37.5 hours • Overtime at time and a half (Bank holidays x 2) • Annual leave 27 days rising to 33 plus bank holidays

  8. Premia • Fringe = 5% of basic pay with minimum £799 and maximum £1385 • Recruitment and Retention premia, long or short term, up to a maximum of 30% of salary

  9. Job Evaluation Consists of -Factors -Factor level definitions ( factors broken down into defined levels which reflect distinct and broadly equal steps in demand -Scoring system

  14. Agenda for Change • Provides - a fair pay system for all staff; improved morale, recruitment and retention - underpin new roles; help motivate and support staff to develop new roles and ways of working - enabling team working; facilitating patient access to services

  15. Assimilation • Following evaluation all jobs will enter new band at nearest point above current salary. • Basic salary before assimilation is the basic pay on the effective assimilation date plus any job evaluation related allowances.

  16. Protection Where the combined value of payments before assimilation remains greater than the combined value of the payments after assimilation, the former level of pay will be protected

  17. The way forward • Strong encouragement from Ministers that AfC should be implemented in Primary Care • Develop an infrastructure to support implementation • Consider realistic timescales • Benefit Realisation
