Products / Highlights SVT • So far Continental agricultural tyres were summarized in lines by cross section and/or employment-referred • For high performance agricultural machinery this is no longer possible, as individual tyre solutions are necessary. • For this reason practical solutions were developed in co-operation with the tractor and machinery manufacturers. Trend to high performance tractors Products / Highlights SVT • The number of permissions within the range of tractors over 180 HP rose markedly in Europe in recent years - particularly in the highest engine-power class of 200 HP and more. • One cause for it is the trend to even broader and more versatile machinery applications and a higher engine performance of the tractors due to the increasing scope of ground management in agriculture, to achieve: • soil protection with less number of vehicle crossings • fuel saving • time saving

Therefore new tyre concepts with special attributes are necessary.

Load capacity Products / Highlights • The extremely large air volume is achieved with the SVT tyre concept by a reduced rim diameter and increased tyre width. • By using standard rims the approved width of 3 m for vehicle is usually not exceeded. • The result is a high load-carrying capacity with low pressure and a large contact area, which offer soil protection and traction. Products / Highlights With the introduction of the new traction tyre SilentSpeedTyre SST Mitas a.s. / CGS TYRES initiates an important step for cabin interior noise reduction. Impressive results from current tests confirm the new tyre as significant advance in tyre development.

Booming-Noise-Effect The Innovation cabine The generation of drone in the cab vibration impulse / sec = 110 Hz The droning noise in the tractor cab, the so-called “booming noise“, results from the interaction between road, rear axle tyre and vehicle. With standard rear tyres the continuous impact of tyre lugs on the road leads to a vibration impulse which is transmitted into the cab. The predominant noise in the cab comes from the the engine and the impact on the road of the lugs as the rear axle tyres rotate. The combination of these noise inputs causes a resonance that generates the unpleasant effect “cab drone”. Example: The Innovation Booming-Noise-Effect dB(A) measurement of 600/65 R 38 standard tyre, rolling circumference: 5251 mm noise level in dB(A) speed in km/h The appearance of drone in the cabine A tractor, which drives approx. 47 km/h, makes 2,5 rear wheel rotations per second. The lugs (in this example 44) transmits impulses into the operator's cab. 2,5 U/sec. x 44 lug impulses = 110 vibration impulses/sec = 110 Hz At around 110 Hertz (Hz) - in this example at 47 km/h – the air pressure in the cab develops particularly strong oscillations or vibrations. The combination of high levels of vibration generated by the tyre and the engine, result in resonances and consequently to an enormous rise in the noise level. The driver notices this as unpleasant humming/drone. Measured by Continental AG, NVH, 2009

The Innovation SilentSpeedTyre SST • SST through its construction and technical innovation improves the vehicle-acoustic characteristics of all tractors! • reduces the noise level in the tractor cab up to 3 dB (A) from approx. 74 dB(A) with market standard tyre to approx. 71 dB(A). • reduces the physical sound pressure level 3 dB(A).This corresponds to a halving of perceived noise. • Thereby reduces the noise level in the operator's cab, through the critical speed range from 42 - 55 km/h, to the same level as the interior noise of a mid range passenger car at 130 km/h.
