TITLE: STAND FIRM TEXT: EPHESIANS 6:10-18 INTRODUCTION Every Christians need to put the armor of God, we must use every piece of God’s armor to resist the enemy whenever he attacks, and when it is all over, you will still be standing up.
I. STAND FIRM 1. There is never a time that we can let down. 2. Be instant in season and out of season. 3. Have a firm and total commitment to God and a godly life. 4. Do all things consistent with the Christian lifestyle. 5. Trust in the Lord for strength. 6. If you don’t stand for something, you will fall for anything.
EXAMPLES OF STANDING FIRM • David had an unshakable faith in God. Saul tried to kill him, and David hid in a cave. Even so, he wrote “My heart is steadfast, O God; my heart is steadfast” (Psalm 57:7). • Joseph stood against moral compromise. “After a while his master’s wife took notice of Joseph and said, ‘Come to bed with me’” (Genesis 39:7). “She caught him by his cloak and said, ‘Come to bed with me.’ But he left his cloak in her hand and ran out of the house” (v. 12). Joseph followed the instruction Paul wrote later in 1 Corinthians 6:18 to flee sexual immorality. • Peter and John have healed the lame man at the gate Beautiful in Jerusalem. The counsel called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus. Peter and John replied, “Judge for yourselves whether it is right in God’s sight to obey you rather than God. For we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:18-19)
III. CONCLUSION 1. “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be men of courage; be strong. Do everything in love” (1 Corinthians 16:14). • “Stand firm in one spirit, contending as one man for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you” (Philippians 1:27, 28). • “Stand firm and hold to the teachings we passed on to you, whether by word of mouth or by letter” (2 Thessalonians 2:15).
