  1. Pain management often involves the use of medications, injections, and other therapies, and Trigger point injection (TPI) is one of them. This is mainly used for treating painful muscle areas that “trigger” the pain. In some patients, knots can be felt underneath the skin. These trigger points can trouble and irritate the muscles and nerves around, which is why such kind of pain is also known as ‘referred pain’. The treatment process is fairly simple.

  2. The pain management doctor will insert a small needle in the concerned knot or trigger point. The injection may contain saline or any of anesthetic medicine, which will work on the point and make it inactive. In some cases, a corticosteroid can be used for the treatment, as well.

  3. The TPI procedure is completed at the physician’s clinic under the expertise of the practicing doctor. Doctors may suggest using such injections for a brief period for sustained respite from unexpected pain. In extreme cases, some patients may need such injections in different trigger points of the body at the same time. For the uninitiated, TPI is mostly used in arms, lower back and legs. It is used for treated headaches, as well, especially if induced by tension. If you are looking fortrigger point injection clinic in Springfield, NJ, contact Advanced Pain Care now.
