Your schedule • Adding or dropping classes • On track for graduation • Registration for your local ATC • Exploring your career options • College and scholarship information • ACT, PLAN, PSAT, and other testing information • All 504 Accommodation Plans • Social, emotional, educational problems • Goal Setting

  11. CCR PLAN College & Career Ready Ongoing process all year!

  12. YOUR SCHEDULE Some classes are only offered during FIRST or SECOND semester. Invitation to Honors classes given after first 3 weeks of school DON'T PANIC IF YOUR SCHEDULE IS NOT EXACTLY WHAT YOU WANT. You will be able to make changes TODAY after Orientation.

  13. MATH PLACEMENT Please double-check the math class on your schedule! The State of Utah requires that students complete at least Secondary Math 1 and 2. If you failed SM1 last year, you will be enrolled in SM2 plus SM1-Credit Recovery. If you failed SM2 last year, you will be re-enrolled in SM2 this year.

  14. STAR ASSESSMENT All students will take the STAR Assessments in Reading and Math during the first few weeks of school to help determine correct placement.

  15. HOW MANY CREDITS? Mountain Heights Academy requires 27 credits for classes 2016+ to graduate. A full schedule at Mountain Heights Academy is 7 credits each year. If you are a Dual Enrolled student, your local school may have different requirements. If you are planning on earning your diploma from your local school (not Mountain Heights Academy), PLEASE check with them to make sure that you are meeting their graduation requirements!

  18. THE ACT Mountain Heights Academy strongly recommends that students take the ACT Test during the spring of their junior year. Students can retake the test as many times as they would like. It is offered 6 times per year. Trends show that scores improve when the test is taken more than once!

  19. 9th GRADE COUNTS! 9th grade credits and final grades will go on your PERMANENT TRANSCRIPT! PASS ALL OF YOUR CLASSES Work toward the highest grade possible in every class in order to keep your cumulative GPA high.

  20. COLLEGE & SCHOLARSHIPS The most important thing you can do to prepare for college and scholarships is PASS YOUR CLASSES and work toward the highest grades possible! Talk to your counselor about specific questions you have!

  21. Community Service & Extra-Curricular Activities Keep track of all activities you are involved in, community service you do, and any leadership positions you hold. You will use this information for college and scholarship applications.

  22. Tips for Success at Mountain Heights Academy 1. Plan on 1 hour per class per school day. 2. Make a schedule for yourself and stick to it! 3. Take advantage of your teachers’ office hours. 4. Don't be shy... ASK QUESTIONS.
