  2. Target Audience • Head-hunters looking for qualified computer science job candidates. • Need to quickly navigate and sift through endorsements. • Are typically looking for a set number of well-defined skills.

  3. Current System Failings • Skill Endorsements are located near the bottom of the person’s page. • Little information is available about the reliability of any particular endorsement. • Navigating across a network of contacts is cumbersome and involves a lot of clicking. • First step is to allow direct navigation to skills using a top menu bar.

  4. Add additional features to Projects • Allow the creator of a project to designate a supervisor. • Allow the creator to list up to five skills associated with the project. • Add an endorsement button to allow project participants to endorse other users in the project with all skills at once. • This will promote more endorsements by people who have worked in close concert with each other. • Additionally, this will allow us to flag certain endorsements as being by a supervisor, and thus of greater import. • Integrating this new information into the endorsements page will streamline the search and research process for headhunters.

  5. Add weights to Skills page • Two different categories of skill endorsements: those by people you’ve worked on projects with, and those you haven’t. • Supervisor recommendations are listed first and denoted with a gold star. • Allows head-hunters to easily see how many endorsements are from strong project ties.

  6. Add network navigation options • Clicking the arrow below each skill will allow the user to see connections of people who all endorsed each other for that skill. • For headhunters, this allows for easier navigation across communities of potential employees. • Also provides a visualization to see how well-connected those endorsing a user truly are in the subject of their endorsement.

  7. Tabs added to make skills easier to access without scrolling

  8. Added supervisor role to groups • Added skills to be listed as associated with project participation • One-click endorsement for all skills on list.

  9. Endorsements by people you’ve worked with are larger. • Endorsements by supervisors are marked with a gold star. • Supervisor endorsements also appear at the head of the recommendations.

  10. Clicking on a persons pic will display network of people they have endorsed for the same skill and other people who have endorsed them for that skill • Will limit to three to four links to prevent it from becoming overly cumbersome • Actual implementation would have pictures of individual users; mock-up was made using UCINet

  11. Thank You!
