Happy Fathers • “Happy Fathers Day” a common greeting. • Look into Scripture to see what makes it so. • Able never became a dad... “a righteous man.” • Enoch 65 when became dad to Methuselah... • Noah obeyed God saved his family (and us!) • Abraham thought he wouldn’t, over 100 when he became a dad.

  3. Happy Fathers • Isaac had problem children, blessed his sons. • Jacob blessed his grandchildren as he died. • Joseph predicted future and saved his family. • Amram? Moses dad saved his son who delivered his people from captivity, through the Red Sea, delivered the Law of God... • Many happy dad’s and mom’s in Hebrews 11!

Happy Fathers • David ruled, wrote worship songs, etc. • Samuel served God faithfully in difficult times. • They all “conquered Kingdoms, administered justice, and gained what was promised; [they] shut the mouths of lions, quenched the fury of the flames, and escaped the edge of the sword; [their] weakness was turned to strength; [they]became powerful in battle and routed foreign armies.” (vss 33-34)

  5. “Women received back their dead, raised to life again. Others were tortured that they might gain a better resurrection. Some faced jeers and flogging, while still others were chained and put in prison. They were stoned; they were sawed in two; they went about in sheepskins and goat-skins, destitute and mistreated- the world was not worthy of them. They wandered in deserts and mountains, and ibn caves and holes in the ground. • These were all commended for their faith, yet non of them received what had been promised.” (vss 35-39)

Happy Fathers • Overview of many pages of the Old Testament! • True happiness – even facing battles, difficulties, and challenges. • Do these things make people happy?? • “These were all commended for their faith...” • All kinds of challenges and emotions. • Happy Fathers day is wishing a life of faith!!

  7. Happy Fathers • Build your and your family’s faith. • See ultimate reality: Living in faith and obedience to God. • We see something none of these people of faith saw: Jesus Christ our Savior and Lord! • Being Men (and Women and children) of faith brings true and total happiness in Christ!
