Factoring Trinomials AC-method • Multiply: (2x + 3)(x + 2) • Factor: 2x2 + 7x + 6
The AC-method to factor ax2 + bx + c • 1. Multiply the coefficients of the first and last terms: ac • 2. Find two integers that add to b but multiply to ac. • 3. Rewrite the middle term with these two numbers. • 4. Factor by grouping. • Example: Factor 12x2 - 5x - 2
