  3. WHY HERE? • God has called us! • Quimistan has no children’s home nor a day care available. • 60% of the population living in poverty. • Fertility rate: 3.59 children per woman. • Infant mortality rate: 19.85/1000 live births. • Majority are single parent homes.

OUR PURPOSE: Tranquilidad Foundation’s purpose is to manifest the love of Jesus Christ as it provides care, love, protection, and a home to the orphaned, neglected, and/or abused children and youth in the Quimistan Valley of Honduras. OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH: • We are a Christian based organization and believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God. • We believe in the Holy Trinity: the One God, His Son, Jesus, and the presence of the Holy Spirit. • We believe in the death of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins, His resurrection, and our salvation through that belief. • We believe that every Christian is called to spread the love of Jesus and the knowledge of His sacrificial death for all.

OUR MISSION: • Tranquilidad Foundation will provide: • Shelter and Security • A home with surrogate parents • Educational Opportunities • Attendance to kindergarten and primary school. • The opportunity to either continue their education to high school, • a technical school or an apprenticeship program. • For those desiring and capable, a college education will be provided. • Nutrition and Medical Care • Provision of three nutritious meals a day. • Provision of annual medical and dental examinations. • Recreation • Participation in daily activities and periodic field trips. • Emotional and Spiritual Support • Participation in daily prayer, Bible study, and church services. • Receive the love of Jesus in a nurturing home environment.

  10. How the weeds do grow! Hired these young men to clear a path using machetes. The local army battalion sent men to clear the road for us. Alleluia!

  11. The municipality sent a land grader…what a difference it has made to the VISION!

  12. This structure which was started 17 years ago will be completed to provide the first structure for the day care and/or group home.

  13. The security fence is now under construction.

Jan. 29, 2012 Consecrating the land for God’s purposes. “The men of the city said to Elisha, "Look, our lord, this town is well situated, as you can see, but the water is bad and the land is unproductive." "Bring me a new bowl," he said, "and put salt in it." So they brought it to him. Then he went out to the spring and threw the salt into it, saying, "This is what the LORD says: `I have healed this water. Never again will it cause death or make the land unproductive.' “ And the water has remained wholesome to this day, according to the word Elisha had spoken.” 2 Kings 2: 19-22

  15. Often the oldest daughter does not have the opportunity to go to school due to caring for younger siblings. Thus the need for a day care center.
