  2. Every syllable has one vowel sound • Playing---ay • Marshmallow----ow

  3. When you come across an unfamiliar word with a vowel team, try these tips: • Try saying the word to yourself • Think of another word that contains the same team and try that sound in the first word. • If the two vowels form one sound, they are part of the same syllable. Don’t separate them.

  4. You practice-underline the vowel team and say the word. • Heavy • Against • Fountain • Neighbors • Famous • Applause • Rickey looked for a man with courage. • They couldn’t eat in the same restaurants.
