THE ROAD OF DIONYSIUS • The PROJECT- “The Road of Dionysius” is situated in a region, which is geographically located in the central part of Bulgaria. • The pleasant and favorable climatic conditions for the growing of vines are the reason for the building and working of nine wine-cellars with a maximum capacity of 25 000 000 bottles and there is still possibility for another five /two are in the process of building at the moment/. • Within the parameter of the route there are seven small towns and villages with famous mineral springs with a great tourist infrastructure built – over fifty hotels, balneal sanatoria and recreation places. There are also natural and culturally-historical resources for the building of not less then 15-20 hotels.

THE ROAD OF DIONYSIUS • The pleasant and favorable climatic conditions for the growth of ether-oily crops respectively for the development of perfumery-cosmetic industry in the region are being taken advantage of, using the whole specter: attar, lavender, salvia, oregano, basil along with the necessary distilleries. • Restructure of the agriculture – introducing crops and cultures for energetic agriculture. • There is a great potential for the need of medical care – considering the many balneal sanatoria and the fact that the number of people and tourists who have recently visited the place has increased with 70 000 within one season. • The unoccupied medical staff and equipment could successfully be used.

Aim of the project • Establishing infrastructure and structure for purposes of tourism which would be registered in the European Union and the world tourist agencies. • Providing work places and revitalizing of the region’s economy. Development of the region in the sphere of energetic agriculture. • Revealing and displaying the cultural and historical heritage of which there is abundance in the region. • Reconstruction of the agricultural and food industry. Development of vine - growing and wine - industry, fruit and cannery production, growth of ether crops and extraction of attar and other ether oils.

Geographic outlineof the project Geographic outline: • Route – “The Road of the Dionysius” begins at the branching of “Trakia” highway /International road E 80/ at Kalugerovo village, goes through the region of the Municipalities: Pazardjik, Krichim, Perushtitza, Rhodopi, Kuklen, Assenovgrad, Kardjali – towards Perperikon and the Haskovo mineralni bani and again enters “Trakia” highway at Haskovo town. • Length of the whole route –220 km

CONCLUSION The realization of this project will provide the restructure of the agriculture, the vine-growing, the wine-producing, the processing industry and will give a opportunity for development of the hotel-keeping, the balneology, the cultural – historical and wine tourism. All this will approve greatly the social – economical status of the small villages and towns, which are out from the main routes.
