Spouses lose a co parent because he/she is in jail and one parent find themselves raising children by themselves. 3. Children of inmates in jail are at a greater risk of being in jail in the future. 4. With over two million people in prison in 2011, there are a lot of friends and family members that are not in jail that have concerns about their loved one in jail. 5. 7.3 million children have at least one parent in jail or prison.
