  3. Introduction • Management forms an essential part of all human activities. • This is because every human activity requires the application of certain elements or principles of management. • This pre-supposes that we all practice some form of management in our daily activities.

  4. What is management? • Management is the act of getting people together to accomplish desired goals and objectives using available resources efficiently and effectively.

Importance of management • Helps in achieving group goals • Ensures optimum utilization of resources • Reduces cost • Establishes sound organization • Stabilizes the running of the organization • Provides the essentials for prosperity of society • Improves relations • Improves corporate image • Motivates employees • Facilitates growth and expansion

  6. What is management? • Management comprises planning, organizing, staffing, leading or directing, and controlling an organization (a group of one or more people or entities) or effort for the purpose of accomplishing a goal.

  7. Importance of management 1. Helps in achieving group goals Management arranges the factors of production as well as resource and directs group efforts towards pre-determined goals.
