  2. Ashraf Alkhairy has served as a visiting professor at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and professor at the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST). He served as a member in the Alfaisal University and was a member of the University Council, Council of Deans, and the Council of Administrators.

  3. Educational background: Ashraf Alkhairy attained his Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral degrees in the year 1985, 1988, and 1991 respectively in the field of electrical engineering and computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He won the Guillemin prize for the best undergraduate thesis and developed a new method for quality control. He was awarded an Executive Masters in Business Administration degree from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) with top honors in May 2005.

  4. Early career life: After his Doctoral degree, Ashraf Alkhairy continued his career in teaching and as a research scientist at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). He held several positions at MIT: visiting scholar with MIT Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (CSAIL), visiting professor with MIT Joint Program on the Science and Policy of Global Change (CEEPR) and visiting scholar with the MIT Department of Mechanical Engineering.

  5. Ashraf Alkhairy helped to establish the Computer and Electronics Research Institute and the Industrial Liaison Unit at KACST, and was the head for these departments. He served for the Science Council (University Council), in addition to being a member of the numerous committees, such as Faculty Promotion Policies and Procedures, Science Park, Gas Initiative Technology Transfer, Internal Research and Grants, Scholarship, Employment and Housing.
