Understanding the Tundra Biome: Characteristics and Climate

The tundra biome is characterized by low temperatures, long winters, and a lack of tree growth, making it one of the coldest biomes on Earth. Spanning across regions such as Greenland, Eurasia, North America, parts of South America, and Antarctica, it features rolling plains with a unique layer of permafrost just below the surface. The tundra experiences significant seasonal changes due to its distance from the equator, resulting in dark winters and bright summers. This biome is one of the simplest yet most extreme environments on our planet.
