  2. Early Years • Born in Paris, France • Raised by mother and aunt • Aunt taught him to play piano at 2 years old • Wrote 1st piece of music at 2 ½ years old

  3. More… • When he was 5 years-old he gave his first piano performance • He also liked science, writing poetry and writing about music • He also played the organ • He wrote his first symphony at age 16

SomeMusical Works • Danse Macabre • Samson and Delilah- Bacchanal • Carnival of the Animals- written as a musical joke. • He forbid ‘Carnival of the Animals’ to be performed in it’s entirety during his lifetime.
