  1. Gas Law Practice : Ideal Gas Law Practice 1. A 7.50 liter sealed jar at 18 °C contains 0.125 moles of oxygen and 0.125 moles of nitrogen gas. What is the pressure in the container? 2. At 17 °C, a 0.80 mole sample of a gas exerts a pressure of 1.2 atmospheres. What is the volume of the container? 3. At what temperature (in Kelvin) would 4.0 moles of hydrogen gas in a 100 liter container would exert a pressure of 1.0 atmospheres ? Challenge Problem: How many atoms of air are in this room?

  2. 4. Mr. Tebow filled a soda can with a little bit of water, and then heated up the can to 80 °C. A normal soda can has a volume of 355mL. If Mr. Tebow puts the hot soda can into cold water at a temperature of 5 °C, what will the new volume of the soda can be? 5. 3 x 10 25 atoms of helium get put into a balloon. The room is about 65 degrees Fahrenheit. The balloon expands to 40 L. What is the pressure inside the balloon? 6. You and your best friend are astronauts at sea level on Earth in a rocket ship. The air in your brain has a volume of 500mL. You launch your rocket ship, but before you get to outer space, your friend wants some fresh air, so he/she opens a window on the ship. The high thermosphere outside has an atmospheric pressure of 0. 001 atms. What is the new volume of your brain? 7. A balloon is at 315 K and it has a pressure of 2 atms. You put the balloon in a refrigerator that is set to 275 K. What will the new pressure in the balloon be? 8. You go on vacation to Finland. You see a thermometer outside that says it is -40 °C outside. What temperature is it in degrees Fahrenheit?
