  5. Extranets • An intranet that allows customers or other partners to access resources of information. • Instead of mail outs – post information on the extranet – save printing! Proxy Server – Used to store most frequently used files and hide addresses from hackers Firewall – programs that protect resources of a private network

  6. World Wide Web • www – graphic representation of the millions of documents and resources available on the internet. • 2 parts – internet – physical structure of millions of computers cabled together • www – content – graphics, text and hyperlink structure

  7. To access WWW what do you need? • A web browser – Internet explorer, firefox, safari • A computer – that is connected to the internet ISP - Internet service provider
