PASS RATES MEASURES 6A • Definition: The percentage of students or graduates that achieved a passing score on licensure or certification examination • Numerator: Students or graduates with a passing score • Denominator: Students or graduates that took the examination • Data availability varies with source

  5. MEASURE CONTEXT AND IMPLICATIONS • Uses standards established by state or national certification or licensing organizations. • Answers Questions: • What percent of System students or graduates pass state or national examinations? • How does the System pass rate compare to that of other Minnesota institutions?

TEACHER EDUCATION STUDENT TESTS • Pre-Professional Skills Test • Reading, Writing and Mathematics • Taken at the time of application to teacher education program • Students who don’t pass may be admitted to the program and must be given additional time to demonstrate proficiency and/or support to develop proficiency

TEACHER EDUCATION STUDENT TESTS • Pre-Professional Knowledge and Subject Tests • Principles of Learning and Teaching: • Grades K-6 • Grades 5-9 • Grades 7-12 • 21 Subject Tests • Taken at completion of teacher education program • Students who don’t pass may be admitted to the program and must be given additional time to demonstrate proficiency and/or support to develop proficiency
