  1. ETR 790 Making Sense of Object-Oriented Activity Lisa C. Yamagata-Lynch

  2. Two meanings of Leontiev’s object (Kaptelinin, 2005) • Why does it matter? • Objekt—material things that exist independently from the mind • Predmet—the sense-making, target content of a thought • Depending on your interpretation how will you collect and analyze data on object-oriented activity?

  3. Dichotomy of Individual and Collective (Stetsenko, 2005) • Why bother explaining subjective reality (what is going on in ones mind) and objective reality (what can be observed) as co-evolving transformative entity in object-oriented activity? • Can subjective reality and objective reality truly be captured methodologically? • What types of measures need to be taken for capturing subjective reality, objective reality, and their interaction in a reliable, valid, and/or trustworthy manner?
