  3. Fat • Fat is a component in food • Kids will eat 2,000 calories a day • 30% of 2,000 is fat • You eat 600 calories of fat • Some food that contains fat are: • Whole milk nuts oils butter and meats • Fat sound like something you should not eat

  4. Protein • Proteins are organic compounds • Animal protein and vegetable protein have the same effects • broiled porterhouses steak has 38 grams of protein Some examples of foods with protein are: • Meat eggs dairy products

  5. Vitamins • A,C,D,K and E are some vitamins • A compound is called a vitamin • Vitamins have diverse biochemical functions • Dissolve in fat • There are 2 types • Fat soluble water soluble

  6. Minerals • Dietary minerals are in organic substances. • Our body needs adequate amounts of dietary minerals • You must take minerals to sustain physical health • Small amounts of minerals are in food

  7. Water • Your body constantly looses water • 70% of your body is water • You need water to survive • Water that is in some products • Juices drinks • You should replace water very often • It has no calories • Suggested 168 ml per day
