  14. AIM High Program Purpose: To preparestudents to gain admission to nationally-recognized graduate programs and apply for competitive prestigious scholarships.

  16. AIM High Program Applying to Graduate School is like competing in the Modern Pentathlon

  17. AIM High Program Disciplines of the modern pentathlon Shooting Use a 4.5mm air pistol in a standing position from 10m at a stationary target. Each competitor gets 20 shots

  18. AIM High Program Disciplines of the modern pentathlon Fencing Each competitor will face all other competitors once. The first fencer to score a hit wins instantly.

  19. AIM High Program Disciplines of the modern pentathlon Swimming A 200m freestyle race.

  20. AIM High Program Disciplines of the modern pentathlon Riding Show jumping over a course with 12- 15 obstacles. Competitors are paired with horses just 20 minutes before the start of the event.

  21. AIM High Program Disciplines of the modern pentathlon Running A 3km cross-country race. Competitors are ranked according to their score from the first four disciplines and given different start times, with the leader going first.

  22. AIM High Program Disciplines of the modern pentathlon The first person to cross the finish line is the overall winner of the pentathlon.

  30. AIM High Program AIM High Student Responsibilities Maintain a minimum 3.75 G.P.A. Keep my email address and contact information current. Check my email and campus mailbox on a regular basis. If I decide to no longer participate, I will inform the Aim High Office of my intentions.

  31. AIM High Program Aim High Program Goals Attend at least 4 Aim High information sessions, or programs sponsored by Aim High during the 2009-10 academic year and to be an active participant at these events.

  32. AIM High Program Aim High Program Goals Identify a faculty mentor to assist with a) a scholarly project* and/or b) completing your application. Funding for scholarly activities is available through the Office of Student Research .
