  3. What is an adjective? Read these adjectives about the cat: soft, furry, striped, spunky, scared, one

  4. What is an adjective? An adjective describes a noun. Adjectives make sentences more interesting. They give details that make your meaning clearer. Adjectives can tell what kind or how many.

  5. Adjective Activity Volunteers get an object in a paper bag from the teacher. Take a secret peek at the object. Use adjectives to describe the object to the class. How does it look? How does it sound? What kind is it? How does it smell? What color is it? What other adjectives can you use to describe it? Can the class guess the object?

  6. Find the adjective that describes the underlined noun. Click each paw print to see the answer. • Alonzo raked the leaves into a huge pile. • A yellow butterfly flew onto the leaves. • A frisky kitten ran after the butterfly. • The dry leaves blew everywhere. • Alonzo packed the leaves into brown bags. • He put the bags into the old truck. • Then Alonzo heard a squeaky noise. • The nosy kitten had jumped into the truck.
