  3. END THE ISOLATION NOW! • Special subject teachers are the most isolated teachers in our schools. • Look for the commonalities and overlook the differences. • Access the leader within and run with it! • Collaboration Validation Communication • Make it part of your PIP.

  4. OUR “RED RIBBON”IS MUSIC! • Do it the LEFT way – weave CORE through MUSIC instruction. • Find the CONNECTIONS • SHARE them with ART & P.E. • COMMON LANGUAGE • COMMON TERMS • Create a request letter • GATHER DATA!

  5. COMMONALITIES ARE EVERYWHERE! • STUDENT LEARNING • MORAL CHARACTER BUILDING • RAISING STUDENT SELF-ESTEEM • CLOSING THE ACHIEVEMENT GAP • RAISING TEST SCORES • DEEPER LEARNING • CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS

The Personal Effector“What will this do for me?” • Action Research is part of Professional Development Standards now (PIP) • Weave music SOLIDLY into core content and it becomes an integral part of learning • Special subject teachers make a TEAM • Critical Friends Group with a MISSION • Establish a better CLIMATE • Secure music into the school’s CULTURE
