Inhibition of cell wall synthesis
Clinical uses
Not used systemically
Topical for infections of mouth, nose, eye and skin
Available in an ointment ( often combined with polymixin or neomycin ) for suppression of mixed bacterial flora in skin, wounds or mucus membranes
