Entrepreneurship • “Entrepreneur” is a person who undertakes the creation, organization, and ownership of an innovative business with potential for growth. • “Entrepreneurship” is the process of recognizing or creating an opportunity, testing it in the market, and gathering the resources necessary to go into business.

  3. Advantages of Entrepreneurship • Being your own boss • Doing something you enjoy • Creative freedom • Setting your own schedule • Job security • Pride • Being recognized within the community

  4. Disadvantages of Entrepreneurship • Risk of investment • Long hours • Uncertain income • Responsibility falls on you • Pressure • Regulations

  5. Federal Government Jobs • Employs more people than any other organization in the United States • Seeks workers at all levels of education and experience • Employs people in virtually every county in the US and in most foreign countries • Offers between 16,000 and 18,000 job openings on an average • Gives all employees annual pay raises that average 2.76% over the last 10 years • Provides special employment opportunities for veterans, people with disabilities, and students • Repays college loans of recent graduates that qualify

Military • Enlisting out of high school • ROTC scholarships (pay for college while in the military) • Typically an 8 year obligation • Minimum 3 years ACTIVE duty (can be up to 6 years) • 5 years inactive duty (on call if needed) • Can enlist as an Officer – must have a bachelors degree • Offer hundreds of jobs • All entrants take the ASVAB for placement
