Enhancing Mobile Patient Discovery: Integrating Data Repositories with MHD and XD* Standards

This proposal addresses the challenges of mobile patient discovery by exploring the integration of data repositories like MPI and MHD within the XD* infrastructure. It discusses the difficulties of obtaining demographic information and patient identities through existing HL7 standards (PIX/PDQ) in mobile environments. Our focus is on developing lightweight, RESTful services that can efficiently retrieve patient information while complementing existing mHealth projects. By leveraging current technology, we aim to create a seamless experience for mobile healthcare applications.

Mobile Patient Discovery • Seeks to profile mechanisms for mobile / lightweight clients to: • Resolve patient identities from a known identifier (similar to PIX) • Retrieve demographics information from structured query (similar to PDQ) • Leveraging existing projects in mHealth community • Complementary to MHD • Similar: PIX/PDQ complements XDS • Similar: XCPD complements XCA
