  6. Controlled Assessment? Most GCSEs now have Controlled Assessment. Controlled Assessment is similar to what used to be coursework. However, Controlled Assessment is different from coursework by having control which determines how and where you complete your assessments and what resources you may use. There is one subject who do not have controlled assessment, RE Calendar to be produced of timescales and deadlines for CA

  7. What Control Means All students complete their assessments in the same way Assessments are fairer and more reliable You get the marks you deserve Pupils MUST complete the work in school

  8. GCSE Targets Primary School Secondary School Pupil progress is personal – so are their targets

  9. Progress Updates • 3rd October – targets sent home to parents • Review of progress every half term – 20th October • Issued to parents • Support and intervention as required • Use of planners as communication tool • 10th March 2015 – Y10 Parents’ Evening

  11. Homework Homework is an integral part of high school life and we would appreciate your support in monitoring it closely. Homework timetable to be issued 1.5 – 2.5 hours per night

Attendance Good attendance is VITAL to success Term time holidays Controlled Assessments are on going “Of those students who only attend school 80% - 90% of the time, 35% achieve 5A* - C including English and Maths. Of those who have over 95% attendance, 73% achieve 5A* - C including English and Maths”

  17. How can I help? Continue to check the student planner regularly. Ask your son/daughter to show you their work and explain what they are doing. Help them to plan their time in the evening. Know your son/daughter’s targets for each subject. Ask your son/daughter to give you regular updates on how well they are meeting/exceeding their targets . Encourage 100% attendance. Back up any work completed on the computer at home. Encourage your son/daughter to get involved
