  3. Obtain and use energy and nutrients • The bird eats corn for energy. • It drinks water for nutrients. • It runs around all over the place.

  4. Grow and develop • The hen takes care of her chicks. • They immediately leave the nest after hatching. • They live about 2 to 3 years.

  5. Respond to the environment • They can live a long period of time without food or water. • They need a lot of cover to survive. • They need agricultural land

  6. Reproduce • He has a harem. • They select territories by crowing repeatedly at sunrise. • Hen lays 10 to 15 eggs.

  7. Adapt to the environment or maintain a balanced environment It needs a lot of space. Pheasants need to look for mates. It needs to keep healthy.

  8. Inherit traits from their parents • Chicken like traits. • Short rounded wings. • Short heavy bills.
