California Tsunami Preparedness and Hazard Mitigation ProgramAccomplishmentsFY07 $272,300 FY08$284,546 • Progress in 2nd generation tsunami inundation maps for emergency response planning in all populated coastal areas of CA • Met with over three dozen departments with emergency planning functionsfrom individual counties and cities affected by inundation maps while doing field work • Preparation of report/guide for 2nd generation tsunami inundation maps • Participated in development of two tsunami educational videos • Carried out CA’s first “live code” tsunami warning communication test • Planning underway for multi-county “live code” test in March 09 • Planning a Crescent City Pilot Project with TsunamiReady funding • Preparing for functional exercise for the north coast (5 county) May 09 • Planning workshops for local jurisdictions covering • Modeling, mapping, planning, vertical evacuation • Secured approximately $500,000 for signaling devices for CA • Updated procedures for tsunami warning/event response and com systems • Promoted use of CISN Display with tsunami warning capability • Convened CA Tsunami Steering Committee in 07 and 08 • Issues: public/private partnership fizzled, modeling/mapping delay, pilot delayed
