  2. KEY DOCTRINE: OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WILL Through the temptation of Satan, man transgressed the command of God, and fell from his original innocence whereby his posterity inherit a nature and an environment inclined toward sin. Jesus perfectly revealed and did the will of God, taking upon Himself human nature with its demands and necessities and identifying Himself completely with mankind yet without sin. Bible Passages Is Jesus’ Teaching Valid (John 7:14-18) – As you read, look for what Jesus taught was the key to rightly understanding God’s truth. Is Jesus Really from God (John 7:25-31) – In this section, take note of the difference between understanding facts about Jesus and trusting in Him with saving faith. How Can We Understand Jesus’ Teaching (John 7:33-36) – In this section, notice the reason some hearers misunderstood Jesus’ teaching.

  3. The voice on the phone said, “Pastor, I have a waiting room full of patients, but I’ve just talked to a man who has some serious questions about Jesus. Can you come over?” I knew my physician friend to be a faithful Christian witness. He wouldn’t call unless the need was urgent. When I arrived, he introduced me to a hulk of a man who worked as a state police officer. He let us use his private office to talk. After introducing ourselves to each other, the officer asked, “How can I know Jesus is really the Savior?” I showed him every Scripture passage I could think of concerning Jesus’ claims. After nearly an hour of intense conversation, this giant man knelt alongside of me and prayed to receive Jesus as Savior. To this day I recall the officer’s passionate plea for forgiveness and his humble surrender to the Lord Jesus Christ. Not every person I’ve witnessed to over the years arrived at a faith celebration as did this officer. Yet even those experiences taught me to listen to people’s honest questions about Jesus and to seek answers grounded in Scripture. In this Bible study, we’ll focus on questions we might encounter when witnessing.
