  2. In the Spirit of Baptism, God has reached out to us through His Son Jesus Christ. God has called us to be His children and as sisters and brothers to Christ and to one another. We have come as children of this light, bearing this new sign of hope, shining forth God’s glory in this world. We shall sing to the Lord a new song, a song of thanks and praise, for God has done wondrous deeds, and is great beyond compare! Gathering Around the WORDCall to Worship

  7. Gathering Around the WORDCall to Confession God sees and knows us like a parent to a child. When we’ve erred, we try to hide and downplay our situation, but no matter how hard we try, we cannot hide from a sovereign God who knows all things. In humility and faith, let us come before God, seeking God’s mercy and forgiveness of our sins with God and with our neighbors.

  8. Gathering Around the WORDPrayer of Confession(in unison)Holy God, we are an imperfect people and we need your love. Forgive us when we ignore your children who cry out in distress. Forgive us when we choose not to see those who frighten us, or those who bother us, or those who remind us too much of ourselves. Forgive us when we put rules ahead of people, and choose legality over kindness and judgment that lacks mercy. Enable us to see as you see and be opened to the possibility of compassion and grace. O God, hear our prayer. Amen.

  9. Gathering Around the WORDDeclaration of Forgiveness Time after time, God reaches out to us in God’s mercy. God is willing to take us back and embrace us because God loves us. Friends, know that God has forgiven us of our sins, so let us forgiven those who have sinned against us. Thanks be to God, Amen.
