  1. Cobalt Rack Mounted Controller Sales 5/13-5/14

  2. Agenda • Target market • Standards • Key selling features • Physical characteristics

  3. Cobalt RM Target Market • Existing Econolite/Safetran customers with: • 33X or hybrid cabinets • 170 or 2070 controllers • ASC/3 RackMount controllers • potential new 33x or hybrid customers looking to replace aging controllers or looking to replace aging cabinets with new 33x or hybrid cabinets. • 2070 customers who want to upgrade to the latest ATC and who do not want to add a new CPU to an aging controller

  4. Standards • Cobalt RM meets the following standards: • NEMA TS2 type 1 • NTCIP 1202 • TC 5.2b and the proposed ATC 6.10 standards • Also provides CalTrans TEES standard C1 and C11 connectors I/O connectivity.

  5. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt RM comes standard with the industry’s largest, highest-resolution, brightest, color touch screen. • Many controllers’ 170 or 2070 displays are so small they are hard to read and they are difficult to read in direct sunlight.

  6. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt RM provides a custom elastomeric keypad that is laid out with ergonomically-sized buttons and spacing. • Programming can be difficult because some controllers’ keypads are small and function keys are not well labeled.

  7. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt RM is designed to meet the latest ATC standard 6.10 which incorporates the Linux open architecture operating system. • Many agencies do not want to be tied to one manufacturer’s controller/hardware, but they would like the option to purchase hardware from multiple sources and software from a single vendor.

  8. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Controller software can be updated and database or logs copied from/to a USB memory stick. • Previously, updating software and retrieving databases or logged data required starting up and connecting a laptop to the controller.

  9. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Controller programming and logs can be accessed from multiple sources. • Controller display – 7” Color Touch Screen • Nexus 7 & 10 Android Tablet • Centracs ATMS

  10. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt RM can provide users with a live video feed from Autoscope or other IP cameras (future).

  11. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt AND Cobalt RM’s traffic control algorithms are field-proven for over nine years. • Many agencies don’t want to be the first to try a new controller. The first ASC/3 shipped 1/31/05 The first Cobalt shipped 7/31/13

  12. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt RM’s LAN port can be used with a Laptop for updating software, copying database or log retrieval without disconnecting and interrupting the WAN connection. • Many IT departments do not allow anyone to connect their laptops to the “system traffic network” by using the Ethernet switch In the cabinet. City / County Network 10.20.70.* Network Switches (8895) EB 10.20.70.51 172.30.30.30 172.30.30.30.* Network Switches (8895) Cabinet Network AGC 172.30.30.31

  13. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points Software side of Cobalt RM: • Cobalt RM’s GUI • Touch, color, graphics makes programming simple and intuitive. • Cobalt RM’sLogic Processor can test inputs, outputs and timer. If true, it sets inputs, outputs or other functions. • Many agencies have special operations or applications that standard controllers do not provide.

  14. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points Software side of Cobalt RM: • Cobalt RM offers VIOT for enhanced diagnostics. • It can capture faults and then the operation can be replayed. • For replication and diagnostics • For future testing

  15. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points Software side of Cobalt RM: • Cobalt RM offers preemptsequence exit choices following preemption to service the longest queue or free for one cycle with special timing before returning to coordination. • Sometimes the queue of cars waiting for preemption to end has to wait multiple cycles before being able to move through the intersection.

  16. PE Exit One Free Cycle • Clear standing queue after preemption! 6 1 8 3 7 4 5 2

  17. Queue Delay Recovery from Fire PMT 6 1 8 3 7 4 5 2

  18. Cobalt RM Key Selling Points • Cobalt RM provides an excellent base for future expansion. • Future Econolite Software modules • Adaptive Control • ITS • Intersection to Intersection (Peer to Peer) • Intersection to Vehicle and Vehicle to Intersection • World Congress demonstration project – Sept. 2014 in Michigan

  19. Enclosure • Designed to be capable of meeting or exceeding the proposed ATC standard 6.10 requirements for a rack mountable controller. • 19.0” W X 7.0” H X 12.5” D including cable wraps on the rear. 7” corresponds to a 4U height which is the height required to install a standard 2070 communications module. (1U = 1.75”)
