  1. The Prayer of Mother(1 Samuel 1:3-20; Ephesians 6:18-20)

  2. A great Mother • “Woman is weak, but mother is strong.” • I am here as God’s servant thanks to my mother’s sacrifice and prayers for me. • Our church has so many great women in faith • “Prayer Chain” ministry has been continued by our women. • Prayer Warriors bring God’s blessings upon our church! • Hannah – the mother of Samuel • Samuel - a prophet, a priest, and the last Judge of Israel. • How did she bear Samuel and nurture him to be a powerful leader of Israel?

  3. Hannah’s Suffering and prayer The terrible state of crisis: • 1) The Philistines’ military threat. • 2) Worshiping idols. • 3) The spiritual leaders ‘s corruption: ex) Hophiniand Phinehas’ rape in God’s terbanacle. • The complete chaos – the next step they could move on was only the complete collapse. • The savior Samuel: • 1) Repenting. • 2) Paying to God for peace and safety of Israel: The Philistines didn’t dare to invade the territory of Israel all the days of Samuel because God was with Samuel and listened to his prayer (1 Sam. 7:13). • 3) Anointed the first two kings Saul and David – establishing the kingdom of Israel.

  4. God’s salvation plan: • “Hannah prayed.” • The whole subject of the 1 and 2 Samuel is how Samuel and David had saved Israel and established the kingdom of Israel before the Lord. • God began salvation work with Hannah’s prayer. • God established the kingdom of Israel upon Hannah’s prayer!

  5. The Task of Christian Church: • The Church is about God’s kingdom and God’s salvation. • There are many kinds of ministries in our church: worship, fellowship, visitation, outreach, Bible study, Sunday School, Youth Group, etc. • Jesus says, “My house will be a house of prayer” (Lk. 19:46). • The Church must be a place where we gather together to pray to the Lord. As we pray together, we can empower and spread our salvation ministry to the world. • “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel, for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should.”

  6. Why Hannah prayed to the Lord? • She was childless In her patriarchal communities. • This shameful and painful trouble was why she became a prayer warrior. • Hannah’s tearful prayer was answered by God. She bore a son and named him Samuel (vv. 18-20). • Samuel wasn’t just a son but he was eventually born to save the people of Israel out of fall and destruction. • when she prayed and lifted up her trouble to God, her weakness was used as the instrument of God’s salvation for Israel.

  7. Jesus’ viewpoint about human suffering: • A man born blinded – “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but this happened so that the work of God might be displayed in his life. (Jn. 9:1-3). • Lazarus who was sick to death– “His sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God” (Jn. 11:4). • Some sickness and trouble are given for the sake of God’s glory. • Why do we have to struggle with sickness? Why do bad things happen to our lives? • Maybe, it came from God because God wants us to pray. • Maybe it came from God because God is planning to bring the gift of salvation to the world through our tearful and faithful prayers.

  8. Lift up in prayer • Lift up your brokenness in prayer! • God will give you an uplift of spirit and a new outlook on life. • Hannah rose when she prayed to the Lord. • Then we as God’s servants ought to rise too as we pray to the Lord as well • When we pray, God will answer us and bless us with abundance . Amen.
