Characteristics of Ballads • A ballad is a narrative composition in rhythmic verse suitable for singing. • Ballads are poems that tell a story. • Usually, ballads consist of quatrains or 4 line stanzas. • Usually, ballads deal with love or life. • Usually, the 2nd and 4th lines rhyme in ballads.

  3. Poetry Portfolio Assignment • Create a ballad that consist of the following: • 4 stanzas consisting of 3, 4, or 5 lines each • The ballad should tell a story (narrative) • An creative illustration Do not obtain ballads from the internet or books, doing so will result in a grade of zero.
