Carrying on where we left off in October 2010... • We reviewed resources and approaches to involving learners • Decided to trial the different approaches of practice that we had shared – Next steps • Worked with our Learner Reference Group to help us review the resources and approaches • So what have we discovered?
Questions for Learners How can I be involved in reviewing my support and make changes if required? How can I manage the support I receive? What approaches and resources support my learning? How can I be involved in the assessment of my support needs?
Questions for Learning Support Practitioners How can I involve learners in the initial assessment of their support needs? How can I facilitate the review process so that learners take responsibility for reviewing their support and are fully involved in agreeing changes to their support plan? How can I promote learners’ independence so that support enables them to take ownership of their learning?
Standards to guide us? Application of those Standards? Quality assurance of resources and approaches?
So our first task today is.... Quality Assurance • Listen to the following presentations about some of the resources and approaches we have tried • Look at the elements relating to disabled learners that we have selected from the Application Guide for the National Occupational standards • After listening to the presentations and arising questions, consider in your groups which elements apply to the approach or resource presented • Tick those that apply
