Maryland Environmental Service Created in 1970 to protect State’s air, land and water resources State agency and not-for-profit corporation Assist public and private agencies with environmental projects, including solid waste Operate a variety of solid waste facilities and assist with recycling programs, including operating MRFs and marketing materials

  3. State Agency Programs Offer recycling services on a fee for service basis with state agencies Activities include program development, marketing assistance, implementation and reporting Developed internationally recognized program for buying recycled and environmentally preferable products

  4. Examples of Projects Maryland Aviation Administration - Assist BWI Thurgood Marshall and Martin State Airport with recycling efforts. MES activities include inspections of recycling and trash containers, monthly tonnage and recycling report, identifying new projects and completing appropriate reports Maryland Stadium Authority – Assisted Oriole Park at Camden Yards in recycling material on game day DGS – Assisted with expanding recycling programs in legislature

Examples of Projects (Continued) Maryland Port Administration – Developed recycling program for Port agencies and identified opportunities to purchase environmentally preferable products Maryland Department of the Environment – Conducted training program on buying recycled and environmentally preferable products
