What is the Financial Success Program (FSP)? • Single mothers have the opportunity to: • Learn what their options are • Start adjusting their finances • Walk away with a financial plan and the tools to establish a spending plan and a more secure financial future • Take small, actionable steps towards financial stability • Have access to personal financial coach for a year • Connect with others in the same boat

  3. What is the Financial Success Program (FSP)? • Three Core Components: • Terrific trainer • Year long financial coaching • Easy to use money management system. • Also includes dinner and childcare • MANTRA: Cash Flow is Queen

  4. History of FSP • 2009: FINRA Foundation grant to United Way of the Midlands to replicate successful workplace financial education program with single mothers. • 2010: Program relocated to Creighton University---36 women graduate • 2011: 56 women graduate/Medical study starts • 2012: 55 graduates • 60 women on the wait list • Expanding to Council Bluffs in September • Recruitment based solely on word of mouth—FSP has not advertised since July 2010

Value Added Services • Ability to enroll in our local utilities Level Payment Plans • Planning for best use of EITC/tax refund • Credit Repair • Debt reduction planning • Ongoing Monthly Graduate meetings---education, support, and accountability • Debt consolidation loans • Access to good used computers at a low cost

FSP Program Demographics • 87% graduation rate • 71% have attended/graduated from college • 53% are African-America, 35% Caucasian, and 13% Hispanic • 49% live in North Omaha, the most impoverished section of Omaha, NE • 45% makes less than $20,000/year • 75% of those who enrolled in the level payment plan are still on it • The average student is age 30 • Average income-$24,000
