  3. !!! There is a huge gap between the output of the education system and the requirements of the domestic labour market.

  4. In 2004 Population Saudis = 16.5 m • Annual income from oil = 216 billion USD BUT

  5. In 2006 the unemployment rate in Saudi Arabia is Males 9.1% Women 26.3%

  6. In 2005 (5.40 worker in Saudi Arabia ) • ONLY 610 Saudi 11.2% • 4.79 Expatriate 88.8%

  7. 95% of the Expatriates work in the Private sector. • the number of expatriates working in Saudi Arabia has continued to grow, rising by 1.5 % during the last 6 year

  8. WHY THIS problem??

  9. Curricula are not flexible to follow changes in the labor market. • The lack of appropriate educational and training needs in labor market. • Non-linked between curricula and practical training.

  10. 4.The lack of accurate information about the actual needs of the labor market. 5. The lack of curriculum to train skills for the job market

  19. In 2002 the government has become increasingly aware of the need to change the education system to ensure the economic survival of the country and to make opportunities for student to work. By the formation of a ministerial committee (planning and the economy-higher education-the civil service-Education-Finance-work)    to study the issue of harmonization
