  1. Introduction • Objective • Increase the peak data rate of HDR to 3.0720Mbps • No change in modulation and RF front-end • Add R=5/6 Coding Rate to 8-state PCCC Turbo code • Retain the 1XRTT Turbo code spec unchanged • Add more puncturing masks to introduce R=5/6 Turbo code • Support 5 (128-byte) Forward Traffic Channel Packets per slot

  2. X Y0 Y1 Y0’ X’ Interleaver Y1’ Block Diagram of rate 5/6 Turbo Encoder

  3. Turbo Code Puncturing Pattern • The Turbo code puncturing patterns are defined in conjunction with HARQ The puncturing table shall be read first from top to bottom and then form left to right

  4. Modified Preamble Structure Preamble Duration Modulation Phase Null I1 I2 • I1,I2,Q1,Q2 Q3 are bi-orthogonal 32-ary Walsh coded MAC Identifiers • EDRI is (8,4,4) bi-orthogonal coded and block repeated 4 times • EDRI can support up to 16 different rates. Only four will be used • 1.2288 Mbps, 1.8432 Mbps, 2.4576 Mbps, 3.0720Mbps • If an user request DRC >= 1.2288 Mbps, and EDRI is set, then the user have to check the MAC Identifiers to see if the packet is for him • The index I1,I2,Q1,Q2 are associated with the FTC packets within the Encoder packets I- Branch EDRI Q1 Q2 Q3 Q- Branch 32 chips 32 chips 32 chips 32 chips
