  4. Tips For a Good Application • Read the entire application • Follow directions • Print neatly (blue or black ink) • Complete every blank; use n/a (not applicable) if necessary • Give accurate information Job Application

More Tips • Job Gaps Make your answers short, simple, and truthful regarding any gaps in employment Some examples • Managing and maintaining a household • Attending School • Providing child care • Experience • Be creative! List everything that might demonstrate your skills! • Be sure to include any volunteer work with the organization’s name and the type of work done

More Tips • Salary Requirements • Either give a range or respond “negotiable” or “open” • Reasons for leaving past jobs • References • Be sure to get them from previous employers, teachers/professors, and superiors (no relatives) • They need to address how long they have known you, the quality of your work or participation, dedication, skills, and work habits • Ask their permission • Give them a copy of your resume
